Worn By You
What I love about these pieces is that they're truly unique — you cannot walk into any retail store and find them. When you know something has been made with passion, with hand-painting and care, you value it the same way. Every time I wear a Deepa Dosaja piece, someone asks, 'Where did you get that?' That says everything.

My first Deepa Dosaja piece was about 20 to 25 years ago - a sleeveless summer dress I still have in my cupboard. I fell in love with the brand because of how the clothes make me feel: elegant and beautiful. My favorite memory is wearing a hand-painted halter top and silk skirt to a wedding. It was a beautiful outfit.

When you wear Deepa Dosaja, you feel loved, you feel hugged - you feel precious. But what keeps me coming back is the people. I always feel like I'm among friends. It's been more than 10 years, and as I've evolved - as a mother, as a professional - the brand has evolved with me. You don't find that often.

- Berney Tabeko
Deepa Dosaja clothing is made for me - a perfect fit, comfortable silk. What I especially love is how travel-friendly the pieces are. You fold them into your suitcase, arrive at your destination, hang them up, and they're as good as they were off the rack. Effortlessly elegant, wherever you're going.

- Nini Valentine
When I wear Deepa Dosaja, I feel beautiful, elegant, and seen. What makes it different is the way the fabric falls on my body - it hides what I want hidden and accentuates what I want celebrated. The contrast of colors is something I love most. Even when I wear mostly black, the accessories from the range bring everything to life.

About the Brand
Established in 2013 by Deepa Dosaja, our brand creates garments inspired by the powerful women changing the world. Each piece is made for real lives, hand crafted in sustainable fibers such as silk, linen and cotton.
Building on that inspiration, we prioritize creativity, sustainability and the highest ethical standards, producing only made‑to‑order garments that eliminate waste. From our best‑selling silhouettes to intricately embroidered coats, every design reflects a global community of women united by authenticity, purpose and the transformative power of thoughtfully designed clothing.

In‑House Craftsmanship & Responsible Production
We work exclusively with natural, renewable fibres such as silk, linen, cotton and wool. Each garment is biodegradable and free from microplastics, ensuring your garment returns safely to the earth at its end‑of‑life.
Our made‑to‑order atelier model eliminates overproduction and waste by crafting only what’s needed. Every garment is hand‑made in our in‑house studio, allowing us to guarantee that our artisans work in safe, supportive conditions, receive fair wages, and take pride in every stitch.

Deepa Dosaja: The Woman
From her very first piano lesson - when she quietly sketched dress designs instead of practicing scales - to receiving a sewing machine at age thirteen, Deepa Dosaja’s life has been guided by an unwavering love of fashion. Supported by parents who nurtured her dreams, she honed her craft at a Montreal fashion college before returning home to Kenya, where she launched Vabene Couture in the early 1990s.
In 2013, Deepa opened her eponymous boutique in Nairobi, rebranding as Deepa Dosaja and cementing her reputation as one of Africa’s leading designers. That same year, she was honored as Africa’s Most Influential Woman in Business and Government (Industries Sector), recognizing her impact on Kenya’s fashion landscape and global image.
Deepa’s designs are reflections of her core values: creativity, sustainability and ethical production. She refuses to work with synthetics, choosing only natural fibers, and has been a vocal advocate for responsible fashion at international forums. At the heart of her brand is a deep respect for the artisans - her “heartbeat” - who handcraft each garment in safe, fair‑wage environments.
Together with her husband, Ajay, and their three children - ongoing sources of inspiration - Deepa continues to champion artisanal talent. Through her work, she proves that fashion can be both breathtakingly beautiful and profoundly meaningful.

A Royal Showcase: Buckingham Palace Invitation
In 2018, Deepa Dosaja was one of just 31 designers chosen to represent her country at the inaugural Commonwealth Fashion Exchange.
Her hand‑embroidered gown was unveiled at a Buckingham Palace reception hosted by HRH The Duchess of Cambridge and The Countess of Wessex during London Fashion Week, with an audience including Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell and Vogue’s Hamish Bowles. This prestigious showcase affirmed Deepa’s international standing, spotlighted our artisanal excellence on a global stage, and reinforced her reputation for merging intricate design with uncompromising ethical craftsmanship.
